Your ear-mouse is hilarious, and your ‘green fairy’ a vivid warning against the dangers of absinthe. But I would be remiss if I did not thank you for NOT illustrating Juliet’s nurse weaning Juliet!

I love that they called it the Green Fairy! I didn't know that, my green drunken elf/fairy type was just something that popped in my mind. But I like him extra much now. Thanks Bill!
Ik lees op Wikipedia dat Absint Alsem op de Rode Lijst staat. Zeldzaam dus in Nederland. Terwijl er ook Artemisiasoorten zijn die heel vaak voorkomen zoals bijvoet. Weer wat geleerd.
Vreemd, hier wordt het als een plaag beschouwd in weilanden omdat het vee het niet eten wil! Bijvoet is interssant, dat is hier mugwort en is een van de planten waar ik aan denk voor volgende week!
Dat wist ik eerder ook niet, sinds ik deze substack doe heb ik zoveel geleerd! (En een hele nieuwe boekenplank vol met heerlijke planten en etymology boeken).

I had a wormwood border in my old garden. I loved it because it was attractive, sturdy, and really hardy, even through cold winters.
I bet that was really pretty, I love the pale, almost silvery leaves.
I think Lautrec, Degas, Modigliani , etc in Paris circa 1880 called absinth the green fairy. Maybe that's the little green drunk you've drawn.

Het verbaasde mij ook. Wist trouwens niet dat er zoveel soorten artemisia waren.
